This is a twelve day course involving the examination and treatment of the cervical and thoracic spines, and the upper extremity.
Relevant anatomy and pathology will be covered. Practical sessions of cervical and thoracic spine mobilization and stabilization, peripheral joint mobilization and manipulation will follow demonstrations to allow participants to develop proficient manual therapy skills. Please wear appropriate clothing to allow for examination of spinal and peripheral joints.
Examination of course material is to be held immediately following the course (within the time specified). Successful completion of this examination is a prerequisite to Level 3 upper course. Results and certificates (if applicable) will be mailed to the participant upon successful completion of the course/examination.

Andrea graduated from Dalhousie University in 1995 and has worked in private practice orthopaedics since 1997. She obtained her Intermediate (Part A) credentials in 2003, and her Diploma of Advanced Manipulative Therapy (Part B) in 2005. Andrea then went on to obtain a Master of Clinical Science in Manipulative Therapy from the University of Western Ontario in 2008. Andrea attends Orthopaedic symposia annually, and has taken many other non syllabus courses to keep her clinical toolbox well rounded. She is regularly involved in mentoring peers and new graduates and sits on the National Education Committee. Andrea has taught in the Dalhousie Physiotherapy school’s orthopaedic assessment and treatment labs for over 10 years and is a credentialed Level 2 Upper and Lower instructor in the Orthopaedic Division curriculum.
Jill received her B.Sc(PT) from Dalhousie University in 1987 and her M.Sc(PT) in 2001. She passed the Intermediate Manual Therapy exam in 1991 and the Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy exam in 1996. She has been a sessional lecturer and lab demonstrator at Dalhousie University for over 20 years. She is an instructor and examiner for the national orthopaedic division of CPA. Jill is the owner and works at Young Kempt Physiotherapy Centre in Halifax, and at Beaverbank Orthopaedic and Sport Physiotherapy in Lower Sackville. Jill is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. In 2009 Jill received CPA’s Mentorship award and continues to mentor physios from across Atlantic Canada. In 2012 Jill received the designation Clinical Specialist MSK from CPA and is an assessor for CPA’s Specialization program.
